During your treatment, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible.
How Orthodontic Treatment Works
Orthodontic appliances can be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to a corrected position. This is a great time to wear braces! Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. Modern fixed orthodontic appliances are far more comfortable than traditional banded appliances, and Dr. Celenza uses fully bonded appliances, unlike most orthodontists who still band back teeth. You can choose brackets that are clear or metallic color, but since we cater exclusively to adult patients, clear is almost universally chosen.
Duration of Treatment
Treatment time typically ranges from six months to two years, depending on the severity of the problem. However, as Dr. Celenza understands the unique dictates of the adult patient, most often limited treatment goals are delineated, and by employing efficiencies to the case management, durations of greater than one year are unusual in our practice.
