We most often see preadolescents and teens in braces, and we often take this to mean that they are only for people of that age. This is simply not true. The reality is that adults can benefit from braces, too. Did you miss out on the opportunity to correct your bite issues as a teen? Has a lost tooth impacted the alignment of your teeth? Then braces might be the perfect solution for you.

If two or more teeth meet at an unhealthy angle, this can result in chips or dental fractures as well as problems with enamel attrition. The damaged area of your tooth enamel may then cause heightened sensitivity or foster a new area of tooth decay.

To correct these problems and improve the appearance of your smile, Dr. Frank Celenza can offer several different kinds of braces. The one we recommend will be based on two things: the severity of your alignment and your personal desires.

If you have minor alignment issues, we will likely suggest a removable type of clear plastic aligners such as Invisalign®. These aligners will gradually adjust your teeth in as little as six to eight weeks. At two week intervals, you switch to a new set of clear plastic aligners that is tuned one step closer to your ideal smile.

Our orthodontists can correct more significant alignment issues with traditional braces. If you are looking for a more discrete option, we can glaze the metal on the braces with a dental-grade porcelain material. This can be shaded to match your tooth enamel, making it more difficult for the casual observer to even detect you have braces.
